Synopsis: A collection of poems that are based on dog’s names for every letter of the alphabet. Each poem explains why that dog has that name in a fun creative way. For example, Noodle is a poodle that has curls that reminded the author of noodles.
Classroom activity: A post-reading activity where each student will be given a letter of the alphabet. The student will choose a name for a pet based on that letter and write a poem about that name. They are not allowed to use the same names that are in the book. They can also illustrate their poem. After each student has completed writing and illustrating their poem, all the poems will be hung around the classroom in alphabetical order. The poem must contain at least five lines.

After the student has taken the time to choose a poem and practiced reciting it, the students will find a partner and take turns reciting each other’s poems for one another.
